I was awarded a 9-month grant by Emploi-Quebec to put together a interdisciplinary performance revolving around the notions of “pure listening” and communication without words. The performance, Gathering Shamans, involves dancers Emmanuel Cyr and Jenn Doan moving through an immersive environment where movable lights react to the improvised music of live musicians Marc Matatya, Marcus Scalia, Diego Hausfather and myself. I programmed the reactive lighting and sound design with Max/MSP. Gathering Shamans was presented at Theatre 314 May 30th, 2009. This is a creative video edit I made of footage from the show.
